Mooney dominated every phase of the game from the start. Opening with an aggressive defense Mooney took early control of the field and then busted the game open with 4 goals in an 11 minute span. Christo Frangopoulos opened the floodgates with his first 2 goals of the day. Jon Freaney and Dom DiPasquale added 2 more before Christo made it a 1st half hattrick with his third goal with just 3 minutes remaining in the half. KiKi Willis, returning to full time action for the first time in 10 days, closed out scoring with Mooneys 6th goal with 12 minute laft in the game. Assists were credited to Zach Hernan(2) Alecko and Christo Franpoulos, Jon Freaney and D.J. Myers. Mooney's defense with Goalie Jeff Seddon (5th shutoud and his wall composed of Kevin Miller, Jon Freaney, Nick Oles and Kyle Buxman shut the door on Linsly with their 2nd straight shutout and 5th overall on the season. Playing again at full strenght Mooney wii host Warren Harding (Tuesday) and (Ursuline) Thursday in Steel Valley Conference games.

The win gave Mooney their 3rd consecutive Steel Valley Conference and the J.V. team completed the eveniing by winning their 2nd consecutive Steel Valley J.V. title with a 2-1 win over Ursuline. The J.V. record is now at 7-2-1

The game itself was decided early wqith a hattrick by Junior KiKi Willis bringing his career total to 99. A goal by Senior Jon Freaney made the score 4-0 at the half. The second half featured a goal by Senior Christo Frangopoulos, his 10th of the season. Frangopoulos also had 3 assists for the night to take over the State assist lead this year with 20. His career total of 47 is the school record. Finally, Willis made the night memorable with his 100th career goal, his 34th of the season to lead the State in that catagory. Assists were also credited to Sophomore Zack Hernan and Freshman Dom DiPasquale. Mooney then played reserves liberally to coast to a 6-3 win, which extends their unbeated streak to 30 games. Next up are games at Hubbard on Thursday and home against Canfield on Saturday.

Mooney got an early score on a goal by Senior Jon Freaney from a corner kick by Soph Zack Hernan just 4 minutes into the game. Play was hampered by extreme cold and adverse field conditions due to recent excessive rains. Mooney kept the pressure on the first half against a tough, packed-in Hubbard defense and the score at the break was 1-0. Second half action continued the same with Hubbard hoping for a counter attack equalizer but Mooney's defense was solid. With 10 minutes remaining Hernan launched another corner kick that Senior D.J. Myers collected and sent into the goal to ice the contest at 2-0. Junior goalie Jeff Seddon got credit for his 7th shutout in 13 wins as the Card's unbeaten streak reaches 31 games. Mooney's J.V. team improved their record to 8-2-2 with a 1-0 win. Next game at home against Canfield on Saturday night.

Canfield scores first with 10:36 left in half on a free kick by Senior Matt Pietro from 15 yds. Mooney answers with a Junior KiKi Willis 28 yd free kick just 2:30 into second half. Mooney's clinching goel came with 16:30 left from Senior Christo Frangopoulos off a Soph Zack Hernan corner kick. It was the 3rd such goal from the pair in the last 32 games. Mooney extends unbeaten streak to 32 games. Next game is season finale at &:oo P.M. on Sat the 11th with Mooney home against Cleveland Benedictine.

Freshman Michael Amicone added 3 goals and 1 assist, while Kasey Waaland scored twice with 1 assist and Andrew Gatton 1 assist. Keeper (Adam Hooper) had his 6th shut-out of the season and lowered his goals against avg. to 0.69/ game.

Defiance high school ranked #10 in the latest poll wins the title outright. With Ottawa-Glandorf and Lima Shawnee 1/2 point behind to tie for second and Elida 1 point behind for third....These four schools have shown sustained success over the last 6-8 years....Which include regional and state appearances. I'd ask any D2 school to consider them for a scrimmage/game in the future.

In the first Junior KiKi Willis and Senior D.J. Myers each had 2 goals and senior Christo Frangopoulos had 1goal to give Mooney the 5-0 halftime edge. Nick Horbel scored Benedictine's lone goal in the second half with Mooney answering with 2 more KiKi Willis goals. Frangopoulos and his Freshman brother Alecko each added goals for the final 9-1 win. Christro Frangopoulos had 4 assists, Freshman Dom Dipasquale had 2 and Willis added 1. Mooney completed it's first undeafeated season outscoring opponents 80 to 12 in its 15 wins and 1 tie. Willis led the team with 39 goals in just 13 games played giving him 105 for his career so far. Frangopoulos aided the effort with 13 goals and 24 assist with 51 assists for his career. Both are All-State and All-American nominees. Junior goalie Jeff Seddon finished the year with 7 shutouts and a .72 GAA

Yellow Springs completes the regular season outscoring their opponents 90 to 6. Noah Woodburn scores 2 for Yellow Springs, Duncan Silvert-Noftle scores one, his 34th goal on the season.
