8/25 Alexander 4 Gallia Academy 0 Will Hanning
The Alexander soccer Spartans opened the 2005 season with a strong showing
against the Gallia Academy Blue Devils. Devon Bachus befuddled the central core of the Gallia defense, dancing his way deeper towards the twine. He then sent a sweet pass to Bray who was charging in on his left. The Spartan captain deftly packed it into the strings for a 1-0 lead.
Bachus was was taken down in the box at the 21:30 mark on a good run and calmly placed the resulting penalty kick past Gallia goalie Wally Luckydoo to up the home side’s lead to 2-0.
The second half opened with a bang for the hosts. Bachus corralled a
loose ball and ripped it into the webbing just over two minutes in. Jaz Ammon rocketed a shot from about thirty-five yards out that Luckydoo
had difficulty controlling. Bray streaked in and stole the ball mid-bobble and
tapped it in for the 4-0 lead in the twenty-third minute. The Spartans, who outshot
Gallia 22-2, will host the Circleville Tigers on Saturday at 7:00.

The second goal was some excellent hustle by Sam Labor to finish off a Ross Woodworth cross. Mariemont had a shot hit off the post with seconds to go in the half, but it was picked up by the goalie, Dan Filardo. The second half was a case of Seven Hills getting the better of their chances and creating a couple more chances than Mariemont. Goals- SH-Sawyer, M. Fink, Labor 2. M- T. Bezerra

Seven Hills then scored on a pass from a center midfielder over the top of the Fayeteville defence that was converted by thier striker. The second half was a bit more closely contested, with the only goal of the half coming on a cross from the right midfielder, who was actually on the left side of the field during the play, that was headed in by a Seven Hills striker. When 110 minutes were played with no score, the game went to penalty kicks. CCD was the first to shoot. Tyler Felous converted, making the goalie go the wrong way. The first Cincinnati Christian kicker converted, going to the left. Kyle Beyersdorfer made CCD's second PK, again making the goalie go to the right and shooting to the left. The second Cincinnati Christian shooter again converted to the left side. Danny Mattis then went up for CCD, with his PK being saved to the right hand side by the Cincinnati Christian Goalie. The third Cincinnati Christian shooter converted in the upper 90, right hand side. Travis Tiffany then missed for CCD, with another save from the Cincinnati Christian goalie. Cincinnati Christian then had the chance to finish off the game, but their fourth shooter missed. CCD's John Graves then made his PK to keep CCD alive. It was all up to the Cincinnati Christian Goalie, their fifth shooter. He hit it in the side netting, right hand side, to finish off the game and give CC the win over CCD. Cincinnati Christian plays Seven Hills in the district semifinal on Tuesday.
