CHICAGO - The last two times D.C. United and the Chicago Fire met, fast and furious comebacks were featured as each team won 4-3 on their home ground. Saturday night at Soldier Field it was more of the same, D.C. United this time getting out to a 3-0 lead before desperately hanging for a 3-2 victory against the Eastern Conference leader.
Brian Carroll gave United the lead just before halftime, then Dema Kovalenko and Jaime Moreno scored six minutes apart to seemingly put the game out of reach. But Lubos Reiter scored in the 83rd minute and Chris Rolfe in the 88th to pull the Fire within one, though they just couldn't find a way to knock home the equalizer.
