Irish boys boot Country Day  From the Springfield Sun 
2005-AUG-24  

DAYTON — Forward Stefan Latham scored two goals and Jordan Halloran added one goal and one assist as Catholic Central defeated Cincinnati Country Day 3-1 in the first round of the Miami Valley Boys Soccer Tournament at Miami Valley High School on Tuesday.


Midfielder Steve Shonk assisted on two goals to help the Irish win their season opener and advance to the finals against Cincinnati Seven Hills at 5 p.m. Thursday.


In other boys soccer action:


Ryan Hartman notched a hat trick to propel Greeneview to a 5-0 win over Yellow Springs. Nick Bryan and Dow Reichley had the other scores for the Rams.


Jordan Current scored four goals and had one assist to lead Graham to a 12-0 season-opening win over Southeastern.


Girls soccer


URBANA — Midfielder Megan Suchland scored two goals and sophomore forward Allie Leopard added a goal as host Urbana blanked West Liberty-Salem 3-0 in the season opener for both schools.


Junior goalkeeper Allison Bosworth had five saves and the shutout in goal.


In other girls soccer action:


Ashley Amburgy had two goals and three assists to lead Greeneview to a 5-2 win over Yellow Springs. Rebecca Strickland added three goals for the Rams. Stephanie McBride had seven saves in goal for Greeneview.
