Hartman scores four for Greeneview  From the Springfield Sun
2005-OCT-25

By the Springfield News-Sun

JAMESTOWN — Senior Ryan Hartman scored a season-high four goals as unbeaten No. 1 seed Greeneview claimed its second straight Division II, Dayton 2 district final berth with a 5-0 win over Sidney Lehman.

The Rams (18-0) also got a goal from Dustin Bryan on an assist from Hartman. Senior Brock Gill added two assists, while John Davenport and Nick Bryan each added an assist.

Martin Ellis earned the shutout in goal. He tied a 1985 school record with 10th shutouts in a season.

Greeneview will host Ohio Heritage Conference foe Catholic Central in the district final at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Rams won both regular season games, 3-1 and 4-1, but coach Bob Eakins doesn’t expect the rematch to get any easier. The Irish, beat West Liberty-Salem 10-0 Monday.

“We know it’s going to be a battle,” he said.

Girls

Waynesville 4, Greeneview 3
JAMESTOWN — Leslie Kim’s goal on a free kick with 2:30 left in the game was the difference as third-seed Waynesville nipped second-seed Greeneview in the D-II, Dayton 2 sectional final.

The Rams found themselves down early in the first half on two goals by Sarran Eiee, who helped give the Spartansa 3-1 lead at halftime.

Greeneview (13-3-2) tied the score in the second half on goals by Amanda Steward and Rebecca Strickland, who scored the Rams first goal, with 13 minutes to play. Corissa Hoskins and Alyssa Ritchie had assists in the game.

But it came down to Kim’s free kick, which skipped over wet ground and past the shoulder of goalkeeper Stephanie McBride for the go-ahead goal.

“We had some bad breaks,” Rams coach Dan Ludwick said. “Our girls did everything right, but we still came out on the losing end, unfortunately.”

Northwestern 6, Yellow Springs 0
Amber Anderson and Alli Powell each had two goals as first-seeded Northwestern beat Yellow Springs in a D-II, Dayton 2 sectional final.

Yellow Springs finished the season 12-5-2.

“For the conditions, I thought we looked pretty sharp,” said Northwestern coach Ron Griest. “We got stronger as the game went on.”

Jamie Rhodes and Jenna Cooper each had goals for the Warriors (16-1-1), who host Waynesville in the D-II, Dayton 2 district final at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Kenton Ridge 2, Graham 1
Kenton Ridge’s Lacey Brewer scored the game-winning goal with 1:30 remaining in the first half as the second-seeded Cougars beat fourth-seeded Graham in a D-II, Dayton 3 sectional final.

“We like to move the ball around and it’s hard to do that when the ball is hitting puddles,” said Kenton Ridge coach Mike Sherrock. “It was just a sloppy day. Graham really pressed us late in the game, but they couldn’t get the equalizer. They just couldn’t get a clear shot on goal.”

Megan Dwyer had the other goal for the Cougars (13-3-2), who will play Greenon in the D-II, Dayton 3 district final.

Graham’s Jill Muffley had the lone goal for the Falcons (13-5-1).
