Northmont knocks off undefeated Fairmont  From the Dayton Daily News

Northmont pulled of a major upset, knocking off previously undefeated Fairmont 2-0, in a boys Division I district final soccer match Saturday night.


The Firebirds (15-1-3) came in ranked sixth in the state in Division I, but failed to find the net against T-Bolt's goalie Nick Slugerbeck who saved 13 shots en route to the shutout.


Grant Elder and Nick Pahren scored the goals for Northmont (15-4), who move on to play Dublin Jerome on Tuesday 1 at Hilliard Davidson in a regional semifinal match-up.


Northmont 2, Fairmont 0

  • Goals: 1. Elder; 2. Pahren (Elder).

  • Records: Northmont 15-4; Fairmont 15-1-3.

  • Centerville 2, Beavercreek 0: Jason Kercher and Nick Armacost scored the goals as the Elks (16-2-1) advanced to the regional semifinals on Tuesday night to face Milford at Hamilton. The Beavers end the season at 11-4-4.

  • Goals: 1. Kercher; 2. Armacost (Spiers).

  • Records: Centerville 16-2-1; Beavercreek 11-4-4.

  • Tippecanoe 3, Spg. Northwestern 0: The win puts the Red Devils into Tuesday's regional semifinal against Big Walnut at Upper Arlington.


    Fenwick 2, Monroe 1: Matt Mutlu scored the winner for Fenwick (16-2-1). Phil Trotta added the other goals as the Falcons move on to face Madeira on Tuesday. Monroe finishes at 13-4-4.
